Light changes everything in photography. Understanding it helps you plan portraits that look soft and flattering, even in India’s strong sun.
Early morning
Soft, clean light with fewer crowds. It is ideal for portraits at monuments, gardens and lakeside venues.
Late afternoon and golden hour
The hour before sunset gives warm, gentle light that suits couple portraits and family photos outdoors.
Midday
Strong overhead sun creates harsh shadows. If you must shoot at midday, look for open shade such as a veranda, archway or tree cover.
Evening and night
Many Indian wedding rituals happen after dark. Ask your photographer how they handle low light, and discuss lighting with your decorator so key moments are well lit.
Plan around the rituals
Share the muhurat and function timings early. Your photographer can then suggest which portraits to schedule when the light is best.
